The boutique lifestyle aparthotel brand Wilde has officially opened the doors to its latest property, Wilde Amsterdam, offering a distinctive new way to stay in the heart of the Dutch capital. Overlooking the IJ River, the brand-new 120-key aparthotel is situated within one of Amsterdam’s most creative and rapidly evolving neighborhoods, setting a fresh benchmark for extended-stay hospitality in Europe.
The opening of Wilde Amsterdam marks a significant milestone for the portfolio as the very first property designed expressly and exclusively as an extended-stay destination. With stays available from seven nights and longer, the property centers around Oscar’s—an expansive open-plan living room space and bar—alongside an outdoor rooftop garden, dedicated work areas, comprehensive fitness facilities, and a self-service deli. Together, these amenities create a cohesive, immersive destination designed for guests to truly settle into and spend meaningful time within.
Designing a Home Away From Home in Amsterdam Noord
Spanning eight floors within the striking new Yvie residential development, the property seamlessly pairs design-led studios with one- and two-bedroom apartments. This accommodation mix is complemented by a carefully curated collection of social spaces designed around the natural rhythms of a longer stay, whether guests are visiting for corporate projects, professional relocations, or simply seeking an extended immersion in the city. The resulting experience invites travelers to unpack properly, establish a daily routine, and make the city feel entirely like home.

Every apartment has been thoughtfully engineered to function as an independent home rather than a traditional hotel room. Guests will find fully equipped kitchens, dedicated living spaces, and comfortable bedrooms complete with ample room to unpack, luxury Hypnos mattresses, and blackout blinds for optimal rest. To further support longer-term living, the property provides 24-hour reception, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, shared co-working and lounge spaces, a self-service deli, private bike parking, and a selection of pet-friendly apartments.
Neighborhood-Rooted Interiors and Local Craftsmanship
The communal interiors of Wilde Amsterdam were brought to life by the London-based design studio Stephanie Barba Mendoza, renowned for their distinct sense of vibrancy and opulence. The design narrative draws deep inspiration from Amsterdam Noord’s historical evolution, tracing its path from a gritty industrial and shipbuilding district into a thriving epicenter for art, design, and culture.
Studio founder Stephanie Barba Mendoza spent a decade spearheading global projects at the renowned Martin Brudnizki Design Studio prior to launching her own practice. True to the ethos of every Wilde property, Wilde Amsterdam is deeply shaped by its surrounding neighborhood. This connection is brought to life through active collaborations with local makers to celebrate regional craftsmanship, pairing luxurious materials and custom furniture with familiar, playful design elements.

The journey begins immediately upon entering the lobby, where a large, hand-painted mural by Dutch artist Lisette van Hoogenhuyze takes center stage alongside matching hand-painted lamps. Rich deep burgundies and warm terracotta tones are punctuated by energetic bursts of citrine yellow, lavender, and green, while high-shine surfaces and sculptural forms introduce striking visual contrast throughout the space.
These sophisticated material details continue seamlessly across all public areas. Guests encounter suede-like wall coverings, statement terrazzo flooring laid in an angled checkerboard pattern, antique mirrors, and earthy brass detailing. At Oscar’s, the sculptural high-gloss bar, topped with glazed lava stone, forms the definitive centerpiece. Surrounded by leather-backed chairs, custom bar stools, and bespoke joinery, the space offers a versatile mix of environments for settling in with a morning coffee, meeting colleagues for an afternoon drink, or lounging comfortably before dinner.
Tucked discreetly into one corner of the bar is a cozy, semi-private dining snug capable of seating up to fifteen guests. This intimate enclave is specifically tailored for long lunches, private celebrations, intimate dinners, and special gatherings. Above the space, a custom disco ball created in collaboration with Pierre Frey hangs from a richly textured fabric ceiling. This dynamic element is echoed by carpeting in corresponding tones, while a bespoke oak DJ booth—finished in fluted wood and adorned with carved wooden floral stems—subtly references the local area’s rich floristry heritage.

In the private quarters, the bedrooms were designed by Wilde’s in-house interiors team. These private sanctuaries pair refined materials such as leather, timber, marble, lacquer, and brass with woven and tactile finishes, bespoke furniture, and carefully curated artistic pieces.
The Rhythm of Oscar’s and the Surrounding Urban Landscape
Oscar’s has been meticulously designed to follow the natural flow of the day, fluidly adapting as the pace of the environment shifts from morning to evening. Coffee-fueled mornings naturally transition into relaxed afternoon catch-ups, before the bar takes center stage each evening with a menu featuring classic martinis, crisp wines, craft beers, and elevated small plates. Guests are encouraged to find a quiet corner to read, strike up a conversation with a fellow traveler at the bar, or settle in for a nightcap before heading upstairs to their apartments.
Outdoors, Oscar’s Terrace extends the lively atmosphere of the bar toward the building’s roof garden. This lush, wild garden setting provides an inviting open-air environment tailored for daytime relaxation and long, balmy evenings outdoors under the Amsterdam sky.

Positioned on the northern bank of the IJ River, the location places guests right at the doorstep of Amsterdam Noord. Once an industrial and shipbuilding powerhouse, Noord has blossomed into one of the city’s most dynamic cultural districts. Just a short journey away across the water, the striking architecture of the EYE Filmmuseum stands alongside the panoramic A’DAM Lookout. Meanwhile, the former shipyards of NDSM—roughly a 10-minute bike ride from the property—have been transformed into a bustling creative hub housing independent artists’ studios, dynamic exhibitions, innovative restaurants, and cultural events.
Nearby, the STRAAT Museum brings monumental street art to life inside a former industrial warehouse, while Tolhuistuin offers a continuous calendar of music, cultural programming, and dining throughout the year. Balancing this urban creativity is Noord’s greener side, featuring the leafy expanses of Noorderpark alongside scenic waterside walks and cycle routes that wind outward toward the wider Dutch countryside. Independent cafés, boutique galleries, and local food spots intermingle with this unique blend of culture and nature, cementing Noord as one of Amsterdam’s most inspiring and fast-evolving neighborhoods. By locating the property here, Wilde offers a sophisticated base that feels refreshingly removed from the bustling historic city center without ever feeling disconnected from it.
Continuing European Expansion
Wilde Amsterdam has been built from the ground up around the specific needs of travelers spending extended periods in a single destination. By combining independent apartment living with attentive hotel services and vibrant shared social spaces, the aparthotel provides a reliable foundation for professional relocations, corporate travel, and extended leisure trips. Guests are spared the traditional compromise between the practical facilities of a home and the high-end experience of a boutique hotel.

The grand opening of the Amsterdam property follows closely on the heels of Wilde’s earlier 2026 launches in Lisbon, Vienna, and Porto. This wave of openings continues the brand’s deliberate and selective European expansion into culturally rooted neighborhoods. Across its growing collection of properties, Wilde consistently pairs apartment-style living with considered interior design, neighborhood-focused food and beverage offerings, and warm hospitality, ensuring that every location is unmistakably shaped by the unique city and community that surrounds it.
