EXIT Festival and P+US Make History with Sold-Out Starlight Festival at the Great Pyramids of Giza

Award-winning EXIT festival, in collaboration with P+US, Venture Lifestyle’s electronic music platform, has launched the Starlight Festival in spectacular fashion against the historic backdrop of the Great Pyramids of Giza, drawing music fans from 114 countries to Egypt.

Staged on the 9th and 10th of October at a specially designated site overlooking the pyramids, Starlight marked a monumental milestone as the first-ever multi-day, multi-stage electronic music festival ever held at Giza. The sold-out event stands as the largest electronic music gathering at the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World since legendary composer Jean-Michel Jarre’s landmark millennium concert back in 1999.

The extraordinary success of the inaugural Starlight Festival carries even greater significance within the broader festival landscape, as the event served as the grand culmination of EXIT’s international tour. This global journey was launched after the globally acclaimed Serbian festival was forced to leave its home country following its public support for student-led protests in Serbia. Despite the logistical and geographical shifts, the festival team delivered an unprecedented world-class production that resonated across continents.

World-class talent anchored the historic lineup, led by techno powerhouse Charlotte de Witte in her eagerly anticipated first-ever performance in Egypt. She was joined by an elite roster of global electronic music heavyweights, including Michael Bibi, Adriatique, Indira Paganotto, Enrico Sangiuliano, Vintage Culture, Pete Tong, and WhoMadeWho. In total, more than 60 international and regional artists performed across several carefully curated stages throughout the weekend, creating a diverse sonic landscape that bridged underground club culture with ancient history.

The visual production of the festival matched the grandeur of its setting, courtesy of Sila Sveta, the renowned multimedia design studio celebrated for engineering some of the most spectacular global ceremonies and concerts. Sila Sveta crafted an astonishing light show utilizing sophisticated optical illusions that made the majestic pyramids appear as though they were floating effortlessly above the main stage. This artistic feat set a breathtaking new benchmark for visual artistry and stage design in the global festival scene.

Beyond the main stage, festival-goers gravitated toward EXIT’s legendary No Sleep stage, which emerged as one of the busiest and most vibrant areas of the entire site. The stage hosted a stellar roster of underground acts, including Charlie Sparks, BIIA, Layla Benitez, Paolo Ferrara, Olympe, Fiona Kraft, Floyd Lavine, Lanna, Coeus, Reblok, Clonee, and Deer Jade, alongside a strong representation of regional talent. Standout live performances came from WhoMadeWho and Satori, while Gioli & Assia delivered a mesmerizing closing set to cap off the weekend at Sunday’s farewell show in Cairo.

However, it was the remarkably diverse international crowd that left the most lasting impression on the weekend. Fans representing 114 different countries seized the opportunity to turn the festival into an extended holiday, dancing through warm desert nights with the illuminated pyramids as their backdrop before spending their days exploring the rich cultural history of Egypt.

The unique atmosphere extended backstage and beyond, with artists fully immersing themselves in the cultural and travel experience. Michael Bibi brought his parents along for the weekend and, following his triumphant main stage set, slipped anonymously into the No Sleep crowd to dance incognito among fans. Charlotte de Witte extended her stay in Egypt to three days, accompanied by her father and close friends, spending her downtime riding camels and sampling authentic local cuisine. Meanwhile, Indira Paganotto arrived with her 13-strong ARTCORE crew straight from the Ibiza closing at UNVRS, remaining in Egypt until Monday to experience a scenic flight over the pyramids and a traditional cruise down the Nile River.

Building on the overwhelming success and global enthusiasm generated by its debut edition, Starlight Festival has firmly established itself as a new, must-attend, bucket-list date on the international electronic music calendar. Organizers have already confirmed that pre-registration is officially open for the return of Starlight Festival, which is scheduled to take place across the 5th and 6th of November, 2027.
